Tocal Eco-Camping Facility

Paterson, NSW | 2009

Client: The C. B. Alexander Foundation

The Tocal Eco-Camping Facility is a place where the youth may take up temporary residence on-site and be educated in the same philosophy with the associated Tocal College. Here, permaculture is introduced as one of many methods proposed to educate visitors about sustainable practices.

The architecture of the TECF is a response to the prevailing site conditions, significantly the strong westerly winds. Oriented north, the building is made prominent by the gradual warp of it’s glu-lam frames and is intended to act as an aerodynamic form.
